22 Keys of Initiation: Union of Divination and Plant Medicine as a Tool for Liberation

Knowledge Share Description

From the beginning of humanity and into the beginning of civilization, people have sought guidance from sources considered ‘divine’ – this is known as ‘divination’. Astrology is one of the earliest forms of divination. Tarot showed up some time later and has been developed into a system which includes astrology, numerology, symbology, alchemy, etc as some of the components that contribute to it being considered a universally accessible system. The practice of divination can be considered one which enhances our relationship with our intuition and, furthermore, helps establish solid self-trust. In this knowledge share, we will be going into a brief history of the tarot, including some questions which still remain unanswered regarding its origins. We will more specifically be focusing on the 22 major arcana of the tarot as keys for soul initiation, considering the various rites of passage that these symbols move us through. Furthermore, we will look at how the energetic signatures of each of the 22 major arcana also mirror the planetary and healing frequency of 11 plants. Participants will be instructed on how to prepare an herbal blend for divining and seeking guidance when making important life decisions and/or major changes, while also learning about the spiritual qualities within the plants which aid in these processes by becoming more aware of how the physical healing properties of plants mirror these more subtle qualities. Take-home prompts and reflective questions are provided to further the practice of divination facilitated through communion with plants and tarot. We will conclude with a group divination. (It is ideal that participants have a tarot deck for this but it is not absolutely required – the Rider-Waite deck is a good one for this, but any tarot deck will do).

Descending from generations upon generations of farmers, land tenders, earth workers, and medicine people, she has learned craft and proper reverence from and for the natural world at the feet and side of her elders. In 2008, Elsie formalized her journey in healing and education by pursuing a degree in Philosophy and Religion with a concentration in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Natural Healing. Her work focuses on curating holistic spaces, remedies, and happenings. Through Gold Water Alchemy and Gold Water Education Center, two of her personal initiatives, Elsie shares a vast breadth of wisdom and alchemical talismans, served in drops of elixirs, sacred structures, knowledge shares, and penned insights, alike. The motivating intention is liberation into sovereignty.

Some of her current projects include The Indigo Keys and the Spiral Portal, a collection of remedies and talismans connected to the 22 major arcana of the tarot; 22 Flowers of Life which are the flower essence aspects of the 22 keys; 000 Womb Way, a collection of potions useful for the womb and to guide through processes of embodiment and remembrance. Herbascopes is another of her works which stems from a system of divination developed through a meditative process; in Herbascopes, Elsie shares her insights and intuitive impressions received within communion and communication with plants and tarot.
